Dear Colleagues:
I am pleased to report that the Senate, during the FY 2023 budget debate early this afternoon, passed an increase of 12.5 % in Judicial Compensation for Trial and Appellate Court judges. It is fully in alignment with the budget passed by the House.
I extend our deepest appreciation to Senate President Karen E. Spilka, Chairperson of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary James B. Eldridge, and Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means Michael J. Rodrigues for their leadership and commitment throughout the legislative process.
I also want to recognize and express my gratitude to the fellow members of the compensation committee: Michael A. Sullivan, President, Association of Elected Clerks of Court, Daniel J. Hogan, President, Association of Appointed Clerks of Court, and Register Matthew J. McDonough, President of the Massachusetts Registers of Probate Association for their contributions to this initiative.
I will provide you with an update as the budget process moves forward.
Sincerely,
Matthew J. Machera, President
